Hazard Identification Checklist

Often, when trying to make a place or activity safe we subconsciously identify any hazards that could cause harm, put controls in place and then get on with our business. If you aim to do this for your cricket club that includes a pavilion, grounds keeping shed, cricket pitch and nets as well as all the wide-ranging tasks you conduct throughout the season then this can appear overwhelming.

It is suggested you approach this in a methodical way that allows you to take on the task in bite size chunks, e.g., divide your cricket club into manageable areas such as the clubhouse, the grounds shed and the cricket ground. Then using your experience and imagination walk around taking note of anything that could cause harm, a Hazard. Be critical, you can discard insignificant hazards later, links are provided to more detailed guidance.
